Hélène Planquelle - The Embrace, III

This series revisits the motif of "the embrace", which transcends time and culture in Western art history from Antiquity to today.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, for example, Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" and Rodin's The Eternal Spring reinterpreted the embrace with modernist flair. Klimt's shimmering gold hues enveloped the embracing couple, while Rodin's figures seemed caught in a perpetual dance of love and longing.

There is two parts to this artwork : a top part painted directly on the Plexiglas, and a bottom part painted on cardboard with 4cm between the layers allowing for a 3D effect that is hardly perceptible in photo.
