An exceptional William Chawner, with an eye catching large bowl, measuring 8.4 cm by 4.8 cm, 22.5 cm in length, weighing a heavy 84 grams, having a very strong construction.

William Chawner began a seven-year spoon-making apprenticeship with the prolific flatware makers William Eley and William Fearn in 1797. He became the third partner of this company in 1808. Seven years later, he set up Chawner & Co., which would become one of the largest producers of silver flatware through the 19th century.

The silver dish surpassed my expectations! It was well packed and arrived in good condition. I'm amazed how good it looks for its age, being dated from 1897! It looks almost new! Many thanks!
