// WHAT IS IIC?
The Apple IIc, launched in 1984, was a “portable” version of the Apple II computer, featuring a built-in disk drive and a compact design. It introduced Apple’s Snow White design language. Technically the Apple IIc was an Apple IIe in a smaller case, more portable and easier to use, but also less expandable.

The bundle comes with:
– IIC Mac;
– adapted CRT;
– power brick;
– two power cables (european);
– yellow RCA cable (to connect the CRT).

I am a Mac user from way back in the Legacy Era. I offer Vintage Apple computers as I would buy them myself. My admiration for Steve Jobs' legacy is so great that I want the Macs I sell, to stand "the test of time". Furthermore I only sell items I have "passion" for.

Hardware-wise, all my sold computers are completely disassembled, cleaned – and, if necessary, repaired – in order to extend their lifespan. In fact, the Motherboard and PSU of this specific Macintosh Computer are RECAPPED. So you can enjoy this machine for the next decades to come.

// VINTAGE COMPUTER EXPECTATIONS
Vintage Macintosh computers that are typically sold have lots of cracks. Except for some normal (after 40-years) tiny imperfections, this MAC is in very good condition!

However, please have realistic expectations when buying a vintage computer.

As these are "vintage items", they are being sold as. Normal signs of use and wear (like tiny scratches on the CRT screen). But as an experienced connoisseur I can guarantee that these items are in VERY GOOD condition (always keeping in mind their age). The numerous images are part of the meticulous description. Thus: judge yourself!

Be aware. All mechanical parts make more noice than you are use to, compared with modern equipment. But this is “normal” behavior. Obviously this is a 40 year old machine. The speed is therefore corresponding. Last-but-not-least. Working on vintage computers feels extremely "slow" in 2024 (also starting up the operating system and performing tasks takes a while).

// IMPORTANT – A NOTE ON YELLOWED PLASTICS!
Some words on the yellowing.

Old computer cases are made of ABS plastics which contain at that time "bromine". The element bromine reacts over the time of years with UV light and causes some (not-always-even) "yellowing"*. Some sellers "Retr0bright" their computers with chemicals. I am totally agains "Retr0brighting", because it causes structural changes in the plastic, it's not permanent – and it devalues historical items! So pay attention when buying retro-computers (alarm bells should ring when the case is to "gray").

Bytheway: the yellowed plastic is not easy to capture on the photos (but it's there … believe me!). Because of the structure of the used plastic and UV-reaction-over-time … "all items and parts" (computer, keyboard, mouse and power cable) are "yellowed" differently (again: not evenly). Please, if you find a “age-yellowing" a problem, it is recommended that you do NOT bid on this item.

NOTE:
Be prepared to expect items that is more "yellowed" than the pictures show! Pictures tend to give a more positive feel.

FYI. Experienced Apple/Macintosh collectors love the "aging-bromine-yellowing". You can compare it with "patina" on vintage furnitures. For connoisseurs it transforms the-surface-of-a-piece from the ordinary to the exceptional – and it tells a story … and brings on the appeal of objects that show their age openly. But again … it is important to know that this specific IIc has PATINA.

Opening up a 40 years old computer is a delicate procedure. Old plastic cases tend to become brittle. I was very careful and only use specifically designed tools for this Mac.
