The objects were collated in the 1970’s till late 1990’s. All were bought from reputable tribal art dealers in Amsterdam (Lemaire; Italiaander Galleries, Kunst-en Antiekhandel J S Becker and Paul Rutten Asiatic and Tribal Art) and France (Expert Arts Primitifs Raoul Lehuard)

Bambara, Mali
Height: 23,5 cm.
A mask of the Bambara, completely forged of iron, with a face leading to a pointed chin, long, flat nose, slit, slightly protruding eyes and small, open mouth. Its hairstyle consists of a short, wide braid above the high forehead and two additional plaits left and right, which terminate in two rolled-up volutes in front of the protruding ears. A rare piece with age-related patches of rust at front and back. Otherwise no damage.
