Founded in the 1850s, Schatz was for years the leading manufacturer of classic ship’s instruments.
For sale, a fine example of their top-of-the-range barometer, made in Germany post-1992. It shows superb workmanship and is fully functional. The barometer is in near-mint vintage condition with only minimal patina (see photos). The lacquered brass housing is fine, without cracks, dents or major blemishes. The dial is in excellent condition. The door is secured by a brass closure. The facet-cut glass port is clean and intact.
The barometer is calibrated in both millibars and inches (mercury units). There is a fine capillary thermometer (Celsius/Fahrenheit). The barometer may need adjusting after transport, easily done with a screwdriver from the rear (see photo #23-24).
A great opportunity to own one of these superb instruments, for use at home, in the office or on-board ship. This one is in especially fine condition despite its age.

Hi. I was surprised to receive your neutral feedback. I was not aware that you thought there was a problem, as you have not contacted and have not tried to see if we can resolve the issue. The barometer was not sold as being flawless, it was sold as "near-mint" which I believe is an accurate description. There were 25 close-up pictures of the barometer. In addition, I pointed out that there was minor patina, again an accurate description. I also wrote that the barometer was made in West Germany (as was), more than 30 years ago. If you wanted a flawless barometer, you should probably have considered buying a new one, if that were possible, although this would have cost 3-4 times the price of the barometer you bought! However, as I said, if you contact me directly can we try to resolve the issue, Best wishes Steve
