Description
Noh masks, traditional handicrafts that reminds of Japan.
The base is made by wood.

Description:
The“Kongō mask” (金剛面) from Japan is typically associated with the Kongōrikishi, fierce guardian deities in Buddhism. These masks symbolize immense strength and the awe-inspiring power of protectors. Kongōrikishi are believed to ward off evil and safeguard the Buddhist teachings, often depicted with fierce and intimidating expressions. Their masks are used in temple rituals or traditional performances such as Noh theater or Shinto ceremonies.

These masks typically feature intense expressions, with bulging eyes, bared teeth, and exaggerated facial features, all aimed at conveying their power to protect and repel evil. The masks are often red or black, symbolizing strength and wrath, and may have worn metal embellishments or lacquer finishes, which add to their dignified and imposing appearance.

Not only do these masks hold religious and ceremonial significance, but they are also considered valuable works of art, showcasing traditional Japanese craftsmanship in carving and lacquer techniques. The spiritual symbolism and artistic beauty behind the Kongō masks grant them a unique place in Japanese culture.

Ik heb mijn object nooit ontvangen. De verkoper heeft het verzonden, maar het is nooit bij mij bezorgd. Het is vanuit Nederland teruggestuurd naar Japan en inmiddels heeft Minamimori retour bevestigd.
