Termanthia is made from a historic vineyard located in the remote village of Argujillo, within the Toro appellation. This small plot of 4.6 hectares was planted with pre-phylloxera vines of the Tinta de Toro variety during the second half of the 19th century. Its soil is sandy on the surface with a large deposit of fine gravel.
TASTING NOTES (source Numanthia winery): Color: Bright, dark, deep purple. Aroma: Extremely rich and complex, the nose is a full palette of red and black fruits (redcurrants, cherries and picks), licorice, truffles, delicate balsamic notes, toast, dried flowers, noble woods (cedar) and spices (nutmeg and freshly ground black pepper). The deep and intense aroma develops with aeration, becoming increasingly intense and complex ... . Taste: It is a multi-layered experience of deep connection to the Toro terroir. It starts with an impressive succulent, dense, round and succulent attack. Then, the sensation of volume goes in crescendo, perfectly balanced with concentrated, firm and silky tannins. It is both solid and lively at the same time. The finish is very long and complex with a very broad aromatic range of red and black fruits, cocoa and toasty notes. A powerful and elegant 2006 interpretation of the great Termanthia.
