Biography
Yamauchi Tamon (1878-1932)
Born in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, in Meiji 11 (1878).
His initial art name was Tosu, with Tamon being his real name.
He also had several other art names: Tosu, Kukokushi, Kiunkaku, Shokko Sanbo, Jisokuji, and Sokoku Sansho.
At 16, in Meiji 26 (1893), he studied under Nakahara Nankei of the Kano school,
later studying under Kawai Gyokudo and Hashimoto Gaho. He was active in the Bunten,
Teiten, and Tatsumiga-kai art exhibitions and served as a judge for the Teiten.
He died in Showa 7 (1932) at the age of 54.
