A lapis lazuli seal bead talisman with winged lion carving from the ancient Mesopotamian culture.
First Millennium AD.
In good condition. Original, ancient, hand cutting, carving, boring and grinding.It has been cleaned but the nice ancient patina is preserved. The holes are original, ancient, hand-made, irregular, probably have been over drilled with modern techniques to make the piece wearable when the ancient holes obstructed. Traces of use and age on its surface.
Purchased mid 90's in Budapest from the collection of a former ambassador in Asia.
