One of the oldest estates in Sauternes, the Château Coutet vineyard is also the largest in Barsac. Its soil is heterogeneous, composed of fine gravel, limestone silt and alluvium deposited by the Garonne. The property also produces a creamy wine of incredible richness: Cuvée Madame (production limited to 1,200 bottles in the best vintages), capable of equaling Château d'Yquem.

Awarded three stars by the Revue du vin de France which describes it as “one of the two lords of Barsac, with Climens”, Château Coutet is a rare nectar that can be appreciated several decades after its birth.
Located in the golden triangle, between Bordeaux, the Ciron river and the Garonne, the 28ha of Château Coutet vines enjoy an ideal position for developing the famous noble rot, essential to the production of Bordeaux sweet wines.
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand during several successive passes through the vines. The blend is composed of 75% Sémillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, 50% of which are new. The wine then leaves for 18 months of aging in oak barrels as well.
When tasting Château Coutet has a nose of roasted pineapple, supported by lively and slender substance of splendid refinement. There is no heaviness in this finely crafted sweet wine.
As you can imagine, the aging potential of Château Coutet is immense, you simply should not forget it in a corner of your cellar.
