This ensemble includes a pair of chest armors, a pair of gauntlets, and a pair of large sleeves, each piece adorned with a crest of the Sakai family, known as the “Maru ni Kataebi” mon. This crest belonged to Sakai Tadatsugu, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tokugawa Shogunate, symbolizing prosperity and the undying nature of one’s household. The armor set is crafted from paper with lacquer coating, featuring metal plating on the gauntlets for realism and detail. A sticker inside the do indicates the manufacturer, "Hatsune-kai" from Kyoto, a marker that dates the piece to between 1960 and 1980, judging from the phone number listed. With its intricate design and historic significance, the set carries typical signs of wear such as fading, stains, scratches, paper degradation, fabric peeling, patina, and lacquer chipping.
