Arthur Conan Doyle/Sidney Paget/Various - The Strand Magazine: an illustrated monthly, vol. XIII, vol XIV: 1897 - 1897
Nr. 79409747
Nr. 79409747
Here are 3 first edition books on the First World War.
One is "The British Campaign In France & Flanders 1916" written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and published in 1918 by Hodder & Stoughton. It contains 339 pages with 3 fold out maps as well as other maps. The books dimensions are: H: 23 cm, W: 16 cm.
The other 2 books are "The Gallipoli Diary Vol.1 & Vol.2" written by Sir Ian Hamilton and published in 1920 by George H Doran, New York.
Vol.1 contains 387 pages with 10 pages of photos and 2 maps. It also contains hand written penciled notes on the front page by a veteran of the Naval Division Battalion who appears to have served at Gallipoli. Their name is hard decipher, but I think it may be "A. Allan Weir"? This could possibly be "Archibald Allan Weir" who was born in 30/08/1895 and served in the Royal Naval Division from 1915. Whoever it is appears to be a veteran of Gallipoli and has written down their personal information in the book.
Vol.2 contains 337 pages with 1 fold out map. It has the front piece photo, but is missing all the other photos.
Both volumes dimensions are: H: 23 cm, W: 15 cm.
All 3 books are first editions and are in very good condition for their ages and are a must have for any military historian.
Please look at the photos for further information.
