Leitz Prado 66 & Prado 250
The Leitz Prado 66 and Prado 250 are vintage slide projectors produced by the German company Ernst Leitz GmbH, renowned for their precision optical instruments.
Introduced in the post-World War II era, the Prado 66 was designed to project medium format slides, specifically 6x6 cm and 7x7 cm formats. It featured interchangeable condensers and attachments, allowing flexibility in handling various slide sizes. The projector was equipped with a standard lens mount, accommodating lenses like the Dimar f=20cm 1:4. The Prado 66 was available in versions like the 250/66 and 500/66, indicating compatibility with 250-watt and 500-watt lamps, respectively.
Launched around 1950, the Prado 250 was a successor to the earlier Parvo II projector. It was tailored for 35mm slides and utilized a 250-watt lamp. The Prado 250 lacked an internal cooling fan, relying on natural ventilation. It supported various projection lenses, such as the Dimaron f=10cm 1:2.8, and was compatible with slide magazines for continuous projection. In 1954, Leitz introduced the more powerful Prado 500, featuring a built-in blower for enhanced cooling and accommodating lenses up to 250mm focal length.
