About the Domain

The Mascot is a project initiated by Will Harlan, son of Bill Harlan, the founder of Harlan Estate, an iconic Napa Valley estate whose vintages are recognized as among the greatest Californian wines.

An informal project initially started between family members and a few friends, The Mascot aims to reveal, through young vines planted on hillsides, the identity and pedigree of the exceptional terroirs of three estates belonging to the Harlan family: Harlan Estate, BOND and Promontory.

Developed with the teams of the three estates, The Mascot is a pleasure wine, a wine to share that allows you to discover both the aromatic typicity of Californian Cabernets and the exceptional qualitative potential of the greatest wines of these three estates.

About the Vintage.

Nose
With a beautiful subtlety, the nose seduces with the depth of its fruity (black fruits), herbaceous and black tea fragrances.

Palate
An attack with powdery tannins precedes a palate whose density and liveliness stretch harmoniously to the finish.


The MASCOT is a relatively new wine for the Harlan family, and is made from younger vines at the Harlan Estate, 'the Bond' vineyards and 'Promontory'.
The same meticulous care and attention goes into the growing of these vines and the result is a taste of the magic these vineyards can produce.


Vinification and Aging
In a constant search for full maturity during the harvest, these can be carried out in several passages within the same plot. The grapes are then subject to a specific vinification respecting the style of their original property. If the grapes from Harlan Estate and BOND are vinified in new French oak barrels, those from Promontory are vinified in large barrels from the illustrious Austrian cooperage Stockinger.

The aging lasts for a minimum of 3 years within each property before the final blend is made from a rigorous selection of the best batches.
After blending, The Mascot benefits from additional aging in bottle for at least 18 months before being marketed.
