OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 11 “40th Anniversary” platinum on platinum watch, released in 2009. Crafted in a limited edition of just 69 pieces (33/69) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of humanity's historic moon landing, this Speedmaster model is a masterpiece in platinum.The small seconds sub-dial is adorned with a solid 0.999 yellow gold medallion featuring the Apollo 11 mission patch logo, along with the watch’s limited edition number. This design is echoed on the caseback, where the mission patch is also rendered in gold. The caseback showcases a larger version of the Apollo 11 mission patch in solid 18kt yellow gold, engraved with the words: "THE FIRST - WATCH - WORN - ON THE MOON - JULY 21, 1969." The dial is inscribed with the time Armstrong and Aldrin first set foot on the moon’s surface, 02:56 GMT. The chronograph function includes a large central seconds hand with a red tip, a 30-minute counter at the 3 o'clock position, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. Powering this iconic timepiece is the calibre 1861, an evolution of the calibre 861 used in many earlier Moonwatch models, now enhanced with corrosion-resistant rhodium plating. The movement maintains the same frequency as its predecessor at 21,600 v/h. Adding to its allure, the watch is presented in a special box that includes a 42 mm sterling gold medal with unique engravings.
