This is chain mail from the Edo period.
It has an unusual design with buttoned short sleeves.
Also, although it is difficult to tell from the photo, it is a little thick.
It is thought to be about 300-400 years old.
There are stains, fading, dirt, scuffs, and holes, but it is not in bad condition for something of its age.
