Here is a superb zoned blue fluorite with yellow core on matrix from La Barre mine in Auvergne!
The specimen displays a focal bouquet of quite big cubes (1.8 and 1.7 cm edge for the biggest ones) standing out from a carpet of smaller clear blue crystals, that coats a matrix of massive green and purple fluorite typical from this specific mine.
Notice the delicate zoning that made La Barre so famous among fluorite collectors: from a yellow core, the colour evolved to a nice sky blue and the two colour zones are separated by a sharp dark blue stripe.
The bottom of the specimen was sawn to remove excess matrix.
An excellent fluorite from La Barre, very hard to come by in that size and on matrix!
