It portrays a serene countryside scene at dusk, with a young boy leading a horse while an elder assists a child onto its back. Above the figures, phrases like "ゆう煙" (evening smoke) and "帰り道" (returning home) evoke the calm, rustic atmosphere of a day's end. The scene reflects a nostalgic sense of rural life and the warmth of familial bonds. Ishida Keisetsu, born in 1912 in Gifu Prefecture, was a notable Japanese painter who studied under masters Ippei and Kahei, and was also known by the artist’s name "Keizan Jin." Over his career, he was awarded the International Art and Culture Award for Manga Haiga and held several solo exhibitions. Keisetsu’s works, particularly on hanging scrolls, are celebrated for their warmth and depiction of traditional Japanese life. He passed away in 1992.
