Voir la traductionApple 17-Inch JELLYFISH – Apple Studio Display CRT (ADC) - Macintosh - Sans boîte d'origine
Nº 92056015
Based on looks alone, this may be the ALL-TIME FAVORITE "APPLE DISPLAY".
Just take a moment to look at this thing!
Nicknamed "JELLYFISH".
(not to confuse with the more ordinary "Apple Studio Display M6496")
The last CRT monitor that Apple ever made … was an absolute work of ART. And man, did they go out with a BANG! The "Apple Display Connector (ADC)" carries analog and digital video signals, USB data, and power in the same cable.
Instead of hiding the display’s guts inside "opaque plastics and metal shields", the 17-inch ADC has a crystal clear case, that allows anyone to see the internal workings of the "Naturally Flat Diamondtron* CRT" suspended inside (Diamondtron* by Mitsubishi). By revealing all, the Studio Display has NOTHING TO HIDE. Its transparency and minimalism is pure Apple!
Although the monitor functions perfectly, this object can also be used as an "eye-catcher" in your interior!
Looking over Apple’s entire product catalog it is hard to find a design that more uniquely Apple/Macintosh. The Apple Studio Display (17-inch ADC) was a compromise between the technology of the PAST and the technology of the FUTURE. A design challenge TODAY’s Apple would NOT dare to attempt.
Apple has often used the latest advancements in ergonomics and connectivity to differentiate their standalone displays. Nothing is less true for this "Apple CRT display". Introduced in July of 2000, it was built for the "Power Mac G4 Cube" and the "Power Mac G4". Using an additional ADC video card it can be also used with all other Apple computers.
* Apple used the ADC connector (Apple Display Connector) on late G3 and G4 Macintosh computers with an ADC video card.
It is important to use this monitor with the appropriate vintage computer*! E.g. Apple Cube, Power Macintosh G4/400, Power Macintosh G4/450 DP, and Power Macintosh G4/500 DP, …
FYI: it's even possible to build an "Apple Display Connector Adapter Board" to connect this display to modern equipment.
// UNIQUE FEATURES
Despite all of the extraneous components, it still included some features "UNMATCHED" by later Apple displays. The Studio Display was the last Apple display to be supported on a stand, that not only changed pitch, but rotation as well.
It featured ColorSync internal COLOR CALIBRATION that was rated for the life of the monitor, and a THEATER MODE which automatically increased screen brightness for enhanced viewing of full screen.
With unparalleled black levels and lightening quick response times there are still benefits to CRT displays today (max. Display Colors: 16.7 Million).
– it also features TWO USB ports!
// RARE !
The 17-Inch Studio Display CRT (ADC*) was discontinued on May 21st 2001, less than eleven months from when it was released. Since only a few items have been sold, this model is extremely rare. Furthermore. In good working order they are even more "extremely rare". Thus. Apple-fans seize your chance!
This model also marks an important moment in Apple's timeline. With this model apple said goodbye to the standalone display business.
// CLEANED TRANSPARANT CASE*
The "interior" of the transparent plastic has been cleaned "as best as possible". Read again! "as best as possible". FYI. To get the inside completely dust-free, the plastic cover must be completely dismantled. I don't dare take that risk with such a valuable object. There is a good chance that the vintage plastic will break (while dismantling).
A word of explanation regarding the cleaned transparent case. So as not to run the risk of damaging the plastic transparant case, I didn't take the case off completely (be aware: plastic becomes brittle after 20 years). The result is that some "dust particles" are left behind. However, these "dust particles" are not disturbing or very visible. I'll leave it up … to the new owner if they want to take the risk of cleaning the case completely.
Furthermore.
The "Apple Studio Display is in good cosmetic condition and fully operational (check my "test-screen-pictures" on my own Cube and G4 computer).
Of course there are signs of use (and wear) on the display, which is typical for an object of this age (20 years old). There are some bigger scratches (see detailled pictures) and some minimal cosmetic wear, scuffs and scratches. The screen coating is wearing off a bit (FYI: some users totally wipe the coating layer off – I leave this decision to the new owner). Bytheway. The weared-out coating is totally not disturbing while working and doesn't affect the functionality. The screen looks amazing (no dead pixels!).
>> Not a single crack in the plastic, not yellowed. One minor issue. There is a tiny crack (see detailled picture) – on the stand (= this is a typical issue with the Jellyfish).
// IMPORTANT NOTES
As these are "vintage items", they are being sold as. Normal signs of use and wear. But as an experienced connoisseur I can guarantee that these items are in VERY GOOD condition (always keeping in mind their age). The numerous images are part of the meticulous description. Thus: judge yourself!
– Only the monitor/ display is sold.
– Computer (or other items) are NOT included. But I can help you if you need them too.
// PACKAGING & SHIPPING
The "Apple Studio Display" is packaged securely and carefully for safe shipment.
Moreover, the Studio Display is shipped INSURED because of its precious value.
Since the package weighs more than 25 kg (including the protective packing material),
the shipping costs are (sadly) much higher than normal.

Voir la traductionAlles top verlopen ! 👌💯
Voir la traductionAwful experience at all levels. The iMac that I received seems completely refurbished. Don't get impressed by the "fluffy" description and photos of the item. In the end, they will blame the carrier!
Voir la traductionDear Bruno. This is not an honest review and you know that! We did our best to make you a happy costumer. Why do you forget to mention the little detail, that you agreed to a "huge discount" of both sides (me, the seller and CataWiki). You got this historical iMac for almost "nothing". You could have had a FULL REFUND (you didn't). Anyway. I wish you lots of fun with this historical item. Best Regards, Stefano [VISENTO]
