3x banknotes with consecutive series : 100C0018470/100C0018471/100C0018472 Commemorative banknote on polymer substrate to mark 185 years since the birth of King Carol I Obverse: the following representative graphic elements: on the right, in the foreground, the portrait and signature of King Carol I, below, his name and lifespan, i.e. “REGELE CAROL I 1839-1914”. In the central part, an image of the reverse of the insignia of the Order “Steaua României” (Star of Romania) and a battle scene from the War of Independence. The obverse also shows: the coat of arms of Romania, the name of the central bank “BANCA NAȚIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI” and the NBR logo in a medallion. The face value is printed four times, as follows: in the bottom left corner, horizontally, in figures “100”; down in the central part, horizontally, in letters “LEI UNA SUTĂ”; in the bottom right corner, vertically, in letters “UNA SUTĂ LEI”; and in the top right corner, vertically, in figures “100”. The signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier are printed in the central part, above the face value in letters. The date of putting the banknote into circulation, i.e. “1 decembrie 2024”, is printed vertically, to the right. In the background of the banknote, stylised geometric motifs are printed in subdued colours. Reverse: a graphic composition featuring an image of the statue of King Carol I at Peleș and, centrally, an image of Peleș Castle. Below, the text “FALSIFICAREA ACESTOR BILETE SE PEDEPSEŞTE CONFORM LEGILOR” (Counterfeiting is punishable according to the law) is printed horizontally on two lines. In the background, centrally, the Carol I Bridge at Cernavodă is shown. Up, the name of the central bank “BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI” is printed horizontally and the NBR logo is shown in the top right corner and bottom left corner. The face value is printed as follows: in figures, “100” vertically in the top left corner, horizontally above Peleș Castle and in the bottom right corner, and in letters, “UNA SUTĂ LEI” horizontally, in the bottom left corner. In the background of the banknote, stylised geometric motifs are printed in subdued colours. The serial number of the banknote is printed in letters and figures, in black and red ink, as follows: up in the middle, horizontally, in red ink, with fonts of ascending height and to the left, vertically, in black ink, with fonts of the same height. As a protection against counterfeiting, the banknote includes the following security features for the public: Security features in the polymer substrate: a complex transparent window, vertically, comprising: in the centre, the multi-toned portrait of King Carol I and the text “ROMÂNIA”, both framed into a stylised representation of the insignia of the Order “Coroana României” (Crown of Romania); in the upper part, the multi-toned crown of Romania, which under ultraviolet light shows fluorescence in two colours, silver and red; inside the transparent window, at its top and bottom, graphic elements in optically variable (blue-green) ink, which change colour depending on the angle from which they are viewed; the text “ROMÂNIA” in negative, readable from four different directions, frames the transparent window in both its upper and lower parts; elements in golden metallic ink, placed centrally in the complex transparent window and around it, on both obverse and reverse, being part of the stylised representation of the insignia of the Order “Coroana României”; two watermark elements, namely the insignia of the Order “Steaua României” and the NBR logo, visible when the note is held up to the light; a magnetic security thread, displaying in negative the microtext “CAROL I”, readable from four different directions; and graphic elements of various sizes containing the value of the note in negative, placed on its reverse in iridescent green ink. Security features added via printing on the obverse: a raised tactile relief: the portrait, signature, name and lifespan of King Carol I, the insignia of the Order “Steaua României”, the coat of arms of Romania, the name of the central bank “BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI” and the medallion with the NBR logo, the face value in figures and letters, the embossed feature “100” and the text “LEI UNA SUTĂ”, printed in optically variable ink shifting from golden to green when the note is tilted; an obverse-reverse superposed image: a stylised depiction of the insignia of the Order “Coroana României”; the superposition is visible when the note is held up to the light; laser micro-perforations with the face value “100” placed vertically in the central part, visible on both the front and the back of the banknote; an anti-scan, anti-copy pattern in the clear areas to the left and to the right; and a design secured by an offset rainbow colouring, centrally. Together with the security features for the public, the lei 100 banknote has, additionally, security features added by printing, on both the obverse and reverse of the note and detectable by special devices, namely: a microtext in offset printing on the obverse: the inscription “100 LEI” behind the King’s portrait; a microtext in intaglio printing on the obverse: the inscription “BANCA NATIONALA A ROMANIEI” above the text with the name of the issuing central bank and “BNR”, inside the figures representing the face value, at the bottom left; a microtext in intaglio printing on the reverse: the inscription “BNR” in the left-hand rectangle and in the figures indicating the face value, to the right; a stamp-like image showing the face value of the banknote, on the reverse, in figures “100”, to the left, horizontally, which appears in greenish-yellow under ultraviolet light; the serial number horizontally, on the reverse, up in the centre, in red, which appears in orange under ultraviolet light; and the serial number vertically, on the reverse, to the left, in black, which appears in greenish-yellow under ultraviolet light, as well as magnetic properties. The commemorative collector banknote with the face value of lei 100 to mark 185 years since the birth of King Carol I is included in a leaflet featuring a presentation in Romanian, English and French. The maximum print number for this numismatic issue is 30,000 banknotes. The banknote has the following specifications: size: 147 x 82 mm, with a ±1 mm tolerance; prevailing colour: blue; offset and intaglio mixed printing on polymer substrate; and complex transparent window. The commemorative collector banknotes with the face value of lei 100 to mark 185 years since the birth of King Carol I are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

Obverse: the following representative graphic elements: on the right, in the foreground, the portrait and signature of King Carol I, below, his name and lifespan, i.e. “REGELE CAROL I 1839-1914”.

In the central part, an image of the reverse of the insignia of the Order “Steaua României” (Star of Romania) and a battle scene from the War of Independence.

The obverse also shows: the coat of arms of Romania, the name of the central bank “BANCA NAȚIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI” and the NBR logo in a medallion. The face value is printed four times, as follows: in the bottom left corner, horizontally, in figures “100”; down in the central part, horizontally, in letters “LEI UNA SUTĂ”; in the bottom right corner, vertically, in letters “UNA SUTĂ LEI”; and in the top right corner, vertically, in figures “100”.

The signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier are printed in the central part, above the face value in letters.

a microtext in intaglio printing on the obverse: the inscription “BANCA NATIONALA A ROMANIEI” above the text with the name of the issuing central bank and “BNR”, inside the figures representing the face value, at the bottom left;
a microtext in intaglio printing on the reverse: the inscription “BNR” in the left-hand rectangle and in the figures indicating the face value, to the right;
a stamp-like image showing the face value of the banknote, on the reverse, in figures “100”, to the left, horizontally, which appears in greenish-yellow under ultraviolet light;
the serial number horizontally, on the reverse, up in the centre, in red, which appears in orange under ultraviolet light; and
