Stormtroopers die naar woestijnwerelden worden gestuurd, dragen gespecialiseerde uitrusting en hebben de bijnaam sandtroopers. Sandtroopers dragen standaard stormtrooper-bepantsering aangevuld met koeleenheden, een helmzandfilter en een overlevingsrugzak met extra rantsoenen en water. Terwijl ze op Tatooine op jacht waren naar de Death Star-plannen, gebruikten sandtroopers inheemse dauwruggen als rijdieren.
Boba Fett
Met zijn aangepaste Mandaloriaanse pantser en dodelijke wapens werd Boba Fett ooit beschouwd als een van de meest angstaanjagende en capabele premiejagers in de melkweg. Een ongewijzigde genetische kloon van zijn vader, premiejager Jango Fett, Boba leerde al op jonge leeftijd gevechts- en krijgskunsten. In de loop van zijn carrière, die contracten voor het rijk en de criminele onderwereld omvatte, werd hij een legende. Hoewel Fett schijnbaar zijn ondergang ontmoette in de Sarlacc-put op Tatooine nadat hij in de Great Pit van Carkoon was gevallen, overleefde Boba het beest en leefde hij om zijn pantser terug te winnen, waarbij hij de troon overnam in Jabba's Palace.
