Fine Equestrian portrait of King Jan Sobieski 3, 1626-1696, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. Jan Sibieski is depicted in full Armour on horseback holding a Royal Scepter and spotting a turban. Jan Sobieski was a great military leader and lead his people in numerous wars against the Swedes, the Russians and the Ottomans. He spoke Tartar and Turkish and was educated in Ottoman warfare techniques. His finest hour was his victory over the Ottoman armies in 1683 near Vienna. Pope Pius the Eleventh gave him the title " Savior of Western Christendom" and he also gained the title Lion of Lechistan. This portrait is painted in the first half of the 19th century in vivid colors in a fine hand. It is executed in oil on relined canvas . The work has a fine old craquelure and is in excellent state of preservation.

Conforme, bien emballé. Parfait !!! Par contre la poste hollandaise paraît n'avoir rien à envier à la poste française quant à la longueur... Mais pas grave, objet bien arrivé et.. conforme !!
