Voir la traductionJohn Maynard Keynes - The General Theory of Employment Interest and Money - 1957
Nº 89805871
Keynes’ most important and influential economics text
"The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money was written by the English economist John Maynard Keynes. The book, generally considered to be his magnum opus, is largely credited for creating the terminology of modern macroeconomics. It sought to bring about a revolution, commonly referred to as the "Keynesian Revolution", in the way economists thought and especially in relation to the proposition that a market economy tends naturally to restore itself to full employment after temporary shocks. Regarded widely as the cornerstone of Keynesian thought, the book attacked the established classical economics based upon laissez-faire and introduced important concepts such as the consumption function, the multiplier, the marginal efficiency of capital and liquidity preference”.
Item Description
This scarce title perhaps the most significant economics book of the 20th century. Written in the aftermath of the great depression, Keynes's masterpiece "subjected the definitions and theories of the classical school of economists to a penetrating scrutiny and found them seriously inadequate and inaccurate".
The book includes 24 chapters grouped within 6 books. Published by Macmillan and Co., Limited, London, 1957. Publishers’ original black cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt.
Book Dimensions: 22 x 15 x 3 cm and Number of Pages: 403 including index
Condition
External covers in nice shape, slightly marked, and with light wear to corners. The book is clean inside and tidy. Little name on top front free endpaper page. Pages are clean with occasional foxing to few pages. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good (Please see pictures).
John Maynard Keynes
“John Maynard Keynes was the most celebrated economist of the Twentieth Century, his theories widely (if selectively) embraced by the ruling political and banking elites because they appear to encourage endless borrow-and-spend inflationary credit bubbles, which in turn allow the politicos to (in the doctrine attributed to Roosevelt henchman and Soviet agent Harry Hopkins) "tax and tax, spend and spend, elect and elect."
