The Canon Canosound 312XL-S is a Super 8 movie camera introduced by Canon in 1977. Is a simpler version of the 514XL-S, designed to be more affordable while still offering high-quality features. This camera comes with one agfa moviechrome 40 super 8 sound film. It might have some vintage captures on it. Everything seems to be in full working order. But keep in mind I have not tested the camera fully because of the vintage film inside.
Specifications:
Lens: 8.5-25.5mm f/1.2, composed of 13 elements in 10 groups. It includes a built-in foldable rubber lens hood.
Zoom: 3x power zooming (approx. 6 seconds) coupled to film drive, with manual zooming available via a zoom lever.
Focusing: Manual focusing from 1.2 meters to infinity. Macro shooting is possible at the wide-angle end, with a close-up distance of 215mm from the film plane mark.
Exposure Metering: External metering with a CdS exposure meter. Automatic aperture setting is coupled to the loaded film speed and filming speed.
Filter: Built-in Color Conversion Filter A, which is automatically canceled when a daylight-type film cartridge is loaded. Manual cancellation is also possible.
Features:
Sound Recording: Magnetic recording system on Super 8 sound film. It includes a 3.5mm mini jack for microphone input and an automatic level control (ALC) circuit.
Indicators: Over/under exposure warnings, film transport indicator, battery check/film end precaution lamp, recording level indication, and macro indication.
Power: It operates on six AA batteries housed in the grip, powering the film drive, power zooming, exposure metering, and sound recording. An external power pack (9V DC) is also possible.
Size and Weight: Measures 63 x 136 x 195 mm and weighs 1310g.
Usage:
Loading Film: The camera uses Super 8 film cartridges. The film counter automatically resets when a new cartridge is loaded.
Recording: The camera features a three-way switch (on, off, running lock) and a red warning mark to indicate when the power is on.
Accessories: It is compatible with the Canon Boom Microphones BM50 and BM70 and has an accessory shoe for mounting additional equipment.
Everything shown in the pictures is part of the set.
This camera is ideal for enthusiasts of vintage film equipment. It offers a blend of manual control and automatic features for ease of use.
