【Product details】

This elegant Edo period or later sword stand, designed to hold two swords, features a rich black lacquer base adorned with intricate maki-e depictions of a weeping cherry blossom tree and an ox-cart beneath it. The weeping cherry blossoms, symbolizing grace, beauty, and the fleeting nature of life, cascade delicately over the cart, which represents noble status and traditional Japanese culture. The ox-cart is a classic symbol often associated with aristocracy and historic Japanese tales. Three accents of raden inlay (mother-of-pearl) add a subtle yet captivating iridescence, enhancing the overall luxurious appearance of the piece.

The stand shows signs of aging, including surface wear, small scratches, chips in the lacquer, stains, and multiple areas with adhesive repairs and cracks. Please refer to the photographs for a detailed view of the condition.
