Three Stunning 53 Year Old Ukiyo-e Reproductions - Ippitsusai Bunchô 一筆齋文調 (1755-1792), Torii Kiyomasu II 二代鳥居清倍 (c. 1720–1750), Torii Kiyomitsu (鳥居 - Japon - Période Shōwa (1926–1989)

In 1971 the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints, under supervision of Toyohisa Adachi, issued a limited edition set of 25 renowned Ukiyo-e prints, which were meticulously carved and printed by his team, as the original woodblocks had not survived the test of time. The result is a set of stunning prints which are completely true to the originals., even down to the paper type per print. This auction is for 3 stunning woodcut prints of this edition, which form a beautiful set.

Print 1 (Left): The Courtesan Handayu of Naka-Ogiya (Ippitsusai Bunchô)
Print 2 (Center): The Actors Kamakura Chokuro as Meido No Kohachi and Matsushima Hyotaro as Oiso No Tora (Torii Kiyomasu II)
Print 3 (Right): The Actor Ichikawa Danjuro IV as Akushichihyoe Kagekiyo (Torii Kiyomitsu)

The prints are, although 53 years old, in immaculate condition. There are no foxing stains. They have never been framed and always stored in a dark place.
