Step back in time with this stunning suzuribako (writing box) set from the Edo to Meiji period, a true masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship. This elegant set includes a beautifully lacquered writing box, inkstone, water dropper, and brush.

The black lacquered suzuribako is adorned with intricate mother-of-pearl inlay. The lid features a captivating scene of a traditional Chinese or Japanese school, framed by the harmonious shippo pattern, symbolizing interconnected harmony and continuity. The sides are decorated with exquisite tortoise shell and flower diamond and arabesque flower designs. The interior reveals a rich vermilion hue, adding a touch of regal elegance.

Despite its age, this set retains its charm and character. There are some repairs, signs of wear, including scuffs, small scratches, stains, and usage marks, adding to its historical allure. Some areas show peeling lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay, while the water dropper has developed a green rust. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of its condition.
