【Important notes】

・International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
・Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your country's customs office and not to us. Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item.
・We deeply value your understanding regarding the blade's export process. The duration to secure an export permit might extend up to a month, and shipping, based on the destination, could take an additional month. In some instances, sea freight may be chosen, which might lengthen the delivery period to 2-3 months.
・Considering the diligence required for export permit procedures, we'd like to emphasize the importance of commitment after purchase. If the auction is annulled post-confirmation, there's a need to retract the said permit. In such situations, to cover administrative efforts, a fee equating to 10% of the auction's final amount would be requested via PayPal.
・We kindly request bids from those who fully acknowledge these conditions. Please be informed that the original registration document is required to be returned to official authorities, so a copy will be provided with the sword.
・Austria, Belgium, and UK prohibits the import of swords, so please refrain from bidding.

【Product details】

This striking Edo period wakizashi, housed in a black scabbard, epitomizes the enduring artistry of traditional Japanese swordsmithing. The sword is fully mounted and features an openwork round iron tsuba sward gurad adorned with a paulownia flower design, symbolizing nobility and virtue. The collar is enhanced with a copper inlay depicting a man seated with an umbrella, a grass-cutting sickle, and a basket, invoking images of pastoral life. The pommel showcases a relief of mountains and an ox with a gold inlay eye, representing perseverance and nature's calm strength. The end cap is crafted from Shakudo Nanako, a fine-textured blackened metal decorated with tiny rounded patterns that resemble fish eggs, adding intricate detail to the piece.

This wakizashi comes with a copy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate, as the original will be returned to the authorities. The certificate from Yamagata Prefecture, number 15234, issued on September 15, 1957, confirms the sword as a wakizashi, measuring 55.2 cm in length with a curvature of 1.8 cm and one peg hole, and notes that it is unsigned.

The blade shows a notable scratch and some rust. The black scabbard exhibits signs of wear such as a couple of scratches, dirt, and a chip. The small knife is missing, and the metal fittings show a patina. The tsuba is loose and slightly rattles. The wrapping on the handle of the sword is partially torn.
Please review the photographs for a detailed look at the condition. Note that the display stand is not included.

Length of the blade: 69 cm
Total length including scabbard: 78 cm
