The wine is in magnificent condition, has not lost volume and is still fully enjoyable. The product of an important vintage, it can represent a beautiful piece to display in your collection.
In this hilly area wine has been produced since the time of the Etruscans and therefore for over 3000 years, but it is the Doglia Castle, known as the Terriccio Castle, which is the true icon and dates back to medieval times. From its hills it was possible to spot the Saracens and run for cover.
The Terriccio has changed hands many times, from the Bishop of Pisa, nephew of Boniface VIII, to the Poniatowski princes who emigrated from Poland, who were the owners until the early 1900s.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate was purchased by the Marquises Serafini Ferri, the family of the current owner Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano Rossi di Medelana.
Uncle Gian Annibale is the one to whom the Castle owes the notoriety and importance it currently enjoys as a winery, thanks to its incredible production of high quality wines, among which Lupicaia stands out, whose first vineyards were planted in the years '80. And it is precisely in those vineyards that an artefact depicting an Etruscan sun was found, which, stylized, has since then become the company logo.
In the 1980s, during the excavations to plant the first Lupicaia vineyards, an artefact depicting the Etruscan sun was found in the ground and from that moment on it was used in a stylized form as the company logo.
