XIX Italian School - B. Amici - An Italian shepherdess weaving wool

B. Amici ( Italian School ) 19th Century Title An Italian shepherdess weaving wool Medium: Oil on canvas Provenance. A leading UK Fine Art auction house and prior with a Pricate UK collection Overall size with the frame is 133 cm x 107 cm x 11 cm and the painting measuring 97 cm x 73 Please note the shipping costs reflect the huge size and weight of the frame which weighs approaching 30 kg. If the buyer is happy to acquire the painting without the frame then we will directly refund all buyers other than UK buyers 300 euros from their invoice from catawiki to reflect what would be substantially reduced shipping costs . Description : A beautifully composed oil on canvas mid to later 19 th century Italian school depiction of a shepherdess weaving wool . The sitter is dressed in traditional costume and the painting is very rich in colour and tonality . We don't have data regarding the artists work which needs further researching but this is an extremely decorative and finely painted landscape. Condition report. In good overall condition for its age . A support patch was added as we noted a thin abrasion to one area of the back of the canvas There is a small area of corresponding retouching to the paint surface but the painting appears predominantly original without hardly any intervention. The canvas is in good tension. Please note ! the shipping costs reflect the huge size and weight of the frame which weighs approaching 30 kg. If the buyer is happy to acquire the painting without the frame then we will directly refund all buyers other than UK buyers 300 euros from their invoice from catawiki to reflect what would be substantially reduced shipping costs . We believe the original gilt frame had a value of around 300-600 euros. Please however refer to the above and notes below. Please inform us as soon as you've paid catawiki whether you require the frame or prefer to receive a reduction in shipping costs and for us not to only send the painting and not the frame. Please note: The frame that is included in the pictures above has been added to the artwork by a third party/the seller, as such it’s not an integral part of the object. The frame is being provided to you at no additional costs so that when your artwork arrives at your house you can immediately display it on your wall. As such any damages to the frame itself, that do not affect the integrity of the artwork, cannot be accepted as a valid reason to open a claim or request a cancellation. We would also point out that whilst we insure all paintings before shipping that we have no control over shipping once we have sent the painting . The successful bidder will be responsible for paying any import duties and any associated VAT in the country of destination . Please refer to the auction terms regarding this before bidding. All of the art that we sell is insured for shipping ( subject to the above ). All shipping is professionally packed. . we have been getting most paintings shipped to most parts of the EU with 5 working days but we cannot guarantee this . We have on a couple of occasions experienced a few delays with customs in certain countries over the last few weeks. Please Note: Studio/Gallery photos of paintings on an easel on the published material are intended only to represent accurately the size of the painting within that room environment. Also refer to the shipping costs and note the auctioneers disclaimer regarding potential customs charges . We cannot calculate these as they are levied in the country of destination and the amount payable is determined by customs there and not by ourselves or the auctioneers. We have experienced some customs charging higher than expected import taxes; so we would advise bidders to attempt the establish the likely excise duties that your own National customs will charge you before bidding and committing to buy the painting. We must emphasise it is not the UK customs authorities. Please check out our paintings and objects in the Tableau and Catawiki eclectic collector auction running from the 6th to the 22nd of September, our extensive collection in the British auction running from the 13th of September and paintings offered in the Museum and French 1850-1950 auctions also running from the 6th of September all on Catawiki !
