【Product details】
Presenting a beautiful pair of octagonal Kuge flower offering stands from the Meiji period, meticulously crafted and finished with gold leaf and lacquer. These stands are used in the Jodo Shinshu Otani-ha (Higashi Honganji) tradition to hold offerings in Buddhist rituals, embodying a deep spiritual significance.
The Kuge flower offering stands are made from wood and feature an elegant octagonal design. The golden finish is achieved through a mix of gold leaf, gold powder, and lacquer, providing a lustrous and timeless appearance.
These stands come with their original wooden box, which adds to their authenticity and value. They exhibit slight wear and discoloration due to age, which is to be expected and adds to their historical charm. There are a couple of areas on the original wooden box that are missing a strip of wood. One of the gold-painted areas has been repainted. Please refer to the photos to confirm their condition.
This exquisite pair would make a cherished addition to any collection of Japanese religious artifacts or as a meaningful decorative piece in a contemplative space.
