Very rare and collectable Antique Russian Icon from the early 19th Century Depicting the Mother of God Joy of All Who Sorrow on the bottom with several saints and angels, and above of them all, the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. The icon is very high quality. Painted with oil on wood, measures 44.5 x 38 x 3 cm (thick) Condition : It is in good condition considering the age. I believe the surface is done with silver plating, and on top of that the icon was painted, therefore paint cracks and chipping offs and other wear are visible because of that. The icon has never been restored, it is in original condition I think. Most of the character's faces fortunately are visible, but still most of them has some smaller wear and tear. Other than that, the usual wood wears, bendings and paint cracks are visible due to the age. The icon is good for restoration too, or as it is - it is really beautiful. Please see all photos.
