A charming, six-panel hinagata byôbu 雛形屏風 (doll festival folding screen) featuring a serene autumn landscape painted in the Kanō School style. The focal point of the scene is a majestic maple tree 楓 (kaede) adorned with bright red autumn leaves, alongside a moss-covered pine tree 松 (matsu), positioned near the edge of a serene lake. Two mandarin ducks stand at the water's edge, while a third gracefully floats on the water. The scene is surrounded by billowing golf leaf clouds. Colour and ink on paper with gold leaf accents. Surrounded by two brocade silk borders, a thin dark one, and a broad golden one. Protected by a black lacquered wooden frame with golden metal hardware. Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912). Dimensions: Total width 111.4 cm (2 x 19.1 and 4 x 18.3 cm); Height: 47.3 cm. Considering its age in a very good original condition with minimal signs of wear conform age. Due to its small size and because the screen is light in weight, the byôbu is very suitable to be mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
