Rare Byzantine Gold Ring with Garnet Stone, Pearl Beads and Filigree Circa 5th-6th century AD This large gold ring features a flat-section shank with a protruding cube at the back. The shoulders of the ring have two small raised cells, each containing a small pearl bead secured by gold wire. Centrally placed between these cells is a substantial bezel in the shape of a biconical star with a ribbed exterior. The upper face of the star is set with a garnet cabochon, encircled by clusters of filigree.
