A fine bi-folio of Indian prayers on burnished paper dating C1815. Written in naskh in black ink, the illuminated pages have deep, multi-banded, floral borders with well preserved colouring. The script consists of 8 lines on each folio, separated by gold interlinear bands. A header within a faded gold cartouche divides the script in the right hand folio. The verses are marked by simple gold aya and text has a few diacritical markings in red for devotees to follow.
There is some staining to the scripture, probably water damage, although the script is still clear to read.
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. Voir la traductionWas very satisfied until I found out that the manuscripts are held to the mount by adhesive tape impossible to remove without damaging the manuscripts. Who the hell puts tape on old manuscripts?!

We do show the mounting in the photographs that are provided for the auction. The tape we use is acid-free mounting tape and placed on the outer margins of the manuscripts on the reverse side.

Arrived very well packaged and padded. Go easy perhaps on the protective tape over the glass. It's the wrong type of tape. I can't remove it to see the painting !! But thanks all the same Rob
