An etched carnelian bead talisman from the ancient Indus Valley culture.

Second millennium AD or older .

In good condition. It has been cleaned by hand, but the nice antique patina is preserved. Original, ancient, hand cutting, carving, etching, grinding and boring. The holes are ancient, hand-made, irregular, but probably have been over drilled with modern techniques to make the piece wearable when the ancient holes are obstructed. Traces of use and age on its surface.

Purchased in 1995 / Strasbourg by Dr. Zelnik on the local art market.
