One of the nicest books on the Dolomites by the famous naturalist and equally famous artist. With 20 tissue guarded colour plates, and fold-out map Item Description Handsome and really rare copy with only few are available online. The book is beautifully bound, designed and colourfully illustrated with 20 captioned tissue protected colour paintings of the area, printed on quality thick papers, by E. Harrison Compton, best known for his alpine plant and mountain scenery painting in Burma, China and Tibet. The book also include at the end of the volume, a fold-out sketch map to accompany ‘The Dolomites’. Published by Adam and Charles Black, London (1913). Publisher’s original blue cloth boards with covers show an image of mountains, in yellow and orange. Lettered in orange to upper board and spine. Top edges gilt. Book Dimensions: 23 x 17 x 3.5 cm and Number of Pages: 207 including index Condition A well-preserved copy. Firm and well bound. External covers in nice shape, and clean, with light wear to corners, and to head and foot of spine. Internally the book is in very good condition indeed. A little name on top front first free endpaper page. Pages are clean, with occasional marks on the margin of few pages. All coloured plates are present and in fine condition (Lovely Copy) (Please see pictures).
