Ito Kosho is an esteemed artist born in 1932, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Since 1972, he has been based in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where he has developed his distinctive style of ceramic sculpture. His international presence was solidified with exhibitions in prominent museums and international expositions from the 1970s. Notable exhibitions include the "VIRUS Ito Kosho Exhibition" at Tate St Ives in the UK in 2002 and the extensive "KOSHO ITO WORKS 1974 - 2009" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and the Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum in 2009.
