A Shamanic “Fog Eater” Mushroom Mask from Nepal of typically associated Grotesque form, Carved from a large ancient Funghi which has now become solidified with age.
These pieces were hung outside Cottages / Dwellings to scare away the presence of Fog and negative Spirits with Fog itself being considered dangerous and hazardous to the community high up in the Nepalese / Himalayan Mountains.
The piece dates to the second half of the 20thC and is being offered in good solid condition showing associate age and the passage of time. (Please study all images for an accurate report).
