This set is a testament to the timeless Heian Zohiko legacy that began in 1661 with the establishment of the ivory shop that eventually became known for exquisite lacquerware. Notably, the workshop was honored to refurbish the thrones at the new Imperial Palace and partake in crafting sacred treasures for the 62nd Shikinen Sengu at Ise Jingu Shrine. The daffodil motif carries a profound symbolism, often associated with rebirth and new beginnings.
