CANON 'Demi' 35mm Half-Frame Camera. Manufactured around 1960 in Japan. The camera comes in very good overall condition and seems 'little-used'. The Photo-electric exposure meter hasn't been tested but the needle seems to move as it should. The f2.8 28mm Canon lens is clear and focuses smoothly. The shutter works but has not been tested, but sounds sweet in operation. The body is in excellent condition. Also included are a lens cap and slide-on Flash Unit Coupler, for attaching a flashgun to the camera. The DEMI used 35mm film in half-frame mode, giving twice the number of exposures per film. eg 72 exposures with 36 exposure film. This was popular for a short time in the early days of colour film, when film and processing was very expensive. It only lasted for a short time as colour photography quickly became more popular, bringing film costs down. Due to its short-term popularity the cameras are now becoming scarce and collectable.
