A stunning and VERY rare writing and sewing box attributed to Henry Hollamby, the most prominent maker of Tunbridgeware in the late 1800’s.
The interior is completely original and has two original inkwells. There is one button on the sewing compartments missing but otherwise all intact.
On opening the lid it reveals the sewing compartments, this is then lifted away to reveal the writing slope.
The image on the lid is of the gatehouse at Battle Castle, East Sussex (UK), the sight of the Battle of Hastings.
Due to its age there are obviously a few minor blemishes, and clearly visible in the photos. But overall a beautiful and very desirable object.
