DESCRIPTION
Horácio Augusto Lourenço planted the first vineyards in the 1980s and impelled the foundations of his dream. His son, Jorge Miguel Graça Lourenço, developed the viticulture, created the wines and structured the company as we know it today.
VINILOURENÇO is situated in the small village of Poço do Canto, Meda municipality, in the heart of the Douro Superior. Since the 1980s, the Lourenço Family has been acquiring several properties in the Douro Superior. Horácio Lourenço after returning from Angola, idealized an imaginary triangle for the location of his vineyards.
At the beginning of the 2000´s, Jorge Lourenço, with only 18 years, was responsible for modernizing the 25 hectares of vineyards already planted, selecting new grape varieties to expand the area of vineyards, structuring the company to vinify the grapes and commercialize the wines produced. In the last 10 years, the company's growth has been unstoppable, due to the quality and originality of its wines, where the recovery of the Douro's old grape varieties has forged the image of the brands and the recognition of VINILOURENÇO.
Currently the company has 45 hectares of vineyards, spread over the counties of Meda and Vila Nova de Foz Côa. The dispersion of the various plots of vineyards in the Poço do Canto, Vale da Teja and Focinho, with a great diversity of climate, altitude - between 160 and 700 m - and soils, shale in the lowlands and shale/granite in the highest lands, allow the creation of very diverse wines. Harvesting time lasts for more than a month and a half, but the distinct behavior of the sarne grape varieties planted in different locations offers an enormous versatility of wine styles.

WINE VARIETIES: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca & Touriga Nacional.

VINIFICATION
The technology is minimalist taking place in granite tanks with mechanical crushing. After the fermentation, with about a week of tanning, the wine was transferred to stainless steel tanks where it naturally cleared. After the malolactic, the wine was transferred to french oak barrels, where it aged for twelve months.

TASTING NOTES
Opaque to light, deep-purple on the edge of the glass with grenate tones. The aroma is dominated by notes of raisin fruits, sweet spices and chocolate. Once in the mouth, it reveals itself as full-bodied, velvety texture, firm tannins and enough acidity to hide the highness of its alcohol content. A wine of excesses for those who like strong emotions, produced only in exceptional years.

SERVING
Serve at 14ºC, decantation is recommended. Given its characteristics it is appropriate for special meals where the grilled black pork and the mirandesa chop may shine.
