Sculptor Sotaro Saegusa (1911-2006) was born in Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1935, he worked as a ceramics teacher at the Yokkaichi Municipal School of Commerce and Industry in Mie Prefecture. Active in company exhibitions, etc., and since 1970, he has been an assistant professor at Nagoya University of Arts.
