Katso käännösOtto Steinert - Subjektive Fotografie - 1952
Nro. 91791141
THE FIRST OF TWO OF THE MOST IMPORTANT and MOST INFLUENTIAL GERMAN PHOTOBOOKS published after 1945 - with excellent pictures in brilliant photogravure printing.
"Subjective Photography" was a very important German photography movement after the second world war, initialized by famous German photographer and teacher Otto Steinert (1915-1978), later (since 1973): Professor Dr. Otto Steinert, head of the specialised photography class in Saarbrücken and later charismatic and highly influential teacher at "Folkwang School" in Essen.
Otto Steinert is the most important protagonist of "Subjektive Fotografie".
Otto Steinert's three exhibitions called "Subjektive Fotografie" are the most important ones in Germany in the time after the second world war.
Welcome to the LAST PHOTOBOOK AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com starting this year -
with more than 100 great lots from my personal collection and from recent acquisitions.
Otto Steinert's students include well-known photographers, photography teachers and curators such as Vicente del Amo, Monika von Boch, Harald Boockmann, Kilian Breier, Adolf Clemens, Erich vom Endt, Ute Eskildsen, André Gelpke, Arno Jansen, Bernd Jansen, Guido Mangold, Stephan Morgenstern, Harry S. Morgan, Detlef Orlopp, Timm Rautert, Dirk Reinartz, Heinrich Riebesehl and Michael Wolf.
In 1953 Otto Steinert founded the important German post-war photo group "fotoform" (together with Wolfgang Reisewitz, Ludwig Windstoßer, Peter Keetman, Toni Schneiders and Siegfried Lauterwasser).
Today, Otto Steinert is considered one of the most important and influential photographers in post-war Germany.
Photography in the book by:
Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray, Herbert Bayer, Heinz Hajek-Halke, Peter Keetmann, Otto Steinert, Edouard Boubat, Adolf Lazi, Helmut Lederer, Toni Schneiders, Siegfried Lauterwasser, Romain Urhausen, Christer Strömholm (Christer Christer), Pierre Boucher, Martien Coppens, Robert Doisneau, Erich Angenendt, Brassai, Bill Brandt, Daniel Masclet, Louis Stettner, Jakob Tuggener, Werner Bischof, Robert Doisneau, Kurt Blum, Herbert List, Chargesheimer and many others.

Brüder Auer, Bonn. 1952. First edition, first printing.
Hardcover. 225 x 302 mm. 111 pages with 112 black and white photos plus 63 pages with text. Various photographers (see above). Text in French, English and German.
Condition:
Book inside fresh and clean with no marks and with no foxing; binding a bit broken before first page (but in general strong, so all pages strongly fixed), fold-out text sheet page (with all photos listed) at the end of the book (like always) with creases (general production problem), no other remarkable flaws or defects, so also all text and all photo pages fresh and flawless. Book outside a bit used and stained. Lacks the dustjacket. Overall very good condition.
Very sought-after, scarce photobook title.
First of the two genious books about "Subjective Photography", based on the legendary first exhibition, curated by Otto Steinert, charismatic and highly influential teacher at "Folkwang School" in Essen.
We THANK YOU SO MUCH to make our single-seller photobook auctions on Catawiki so successful.
Ecki Heuser & team are wishing ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOURS for 2025.
