Hand-thrown lidded pot made as a closed (keeping in) sphere and later finished with incision and a handle added, creating an open pot with lid (letting out). The pot is traditionally pitfired, finished with burned-in horsehair for a unique, non-predeterminable drawing on the pot and waxed.
