2021 Domaine Labet "La Bardette" & Macvin du Jura - Jura - 2 Pullot (0.7 L)
Nro. 90067349
Domaine Labet is one of the most important, appreciated and sought-after wineries in the entire Jura wine region, whether for its pure and artisanal production approach or for the sublime expressive breadth of its wines. The estate was founded in 1974 in Rotalier, in the southern part of the region, by the enterprising and passionate husband and wife team Josie and Alain Labet and today the Domaine is managed by their children Romain, Charline and especially Julien.
The 15 hectares of vineyards cultivated by Domaine Labet are reserved for the traditional Jura varieties Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard, but it is the first two that constitute the varietal core of the estate. The vines reach up to 90 years of age and are rooted in clay-limestone soils consisting of red, white, yellow and blue marl, rich in marine fossils in certain parcels. The agronomic management adopted by the Labet family firmly follows the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture, while in the cellar the approach is absolutely artisanal and non-interventionist. The Domaine's winemaking philosophy follows two currents: the traditional one at the base of the so-called "vin de voile" and the more innovative one for the area that gives rise to the "ouillé" wines, of which the Labets were among the greatest promoters. The first style, the traditional one, involves prolonged aging in overflowing wooden barrels under the veil of flor yeasts, during which the liquid acquires unique and complex oxidative aromas. Instead, the second style recalls that of nearby Burgundy, with aging taking place in small French oak barrels kept constantly full. Regardless of the style adopted, the vinification takes place with the whole bunch, the fermentations are always spontaneous and the barrels used are very old, so that the influence of the wood never prevails over the expression of the terroir.
In addition to the vin de voile and vin ouillé, produced mostly from single vineyards, Domaine Labet produces red wines, Cremant du Jura and several Macvin du Jura, traditional fortified wines made by adding aged brandy to fresh must. The bottles are then labeled with beautiful and colorful illustrations that recall the colorful soul of the wines they house.
Domaine Labet, La Bardette Chardonnay 2021
The grapes come from vines planted in 1947 on clay-limestone soils of Bathonian origin. It ferments spontaneously and ages for 20 months in 350-liter wooden barrels. It is a powerful, tasty, fleshy and persistent Chardonnay. One of the most iconic wines of the Labet family
Domaine Labet, Macvin du Jura
Domaine Labet is located in the south of the Jura vineyard, in a region called Revermont in the village of Rotalier. It is a family estate created by Alain and Josie Labet in 1974. In 2003, their son Julien Labet, who had started with them, decided to create his own three-hectare estate. Since 2013, the two vineyards have been united and managed by Alain, Josie, Julien, as well as the latter's sister and brother: Charline and Romain. Together they cultivate more than 13 hectares of vineyards that extend over 45 plots, on 4 communes and thirteen localities. They produce about thirty vintages per year. Three hectares of Domaine Labet are cultivated in certified organic agriculture, the rest is in the process of conversion. They promote the expression of the plot and mass selection.
The MacVin du Jura is a mutated wine. It is a blend of 2/3 fresh grape must and 1/3 pomace aged 2 years in 228-liter barrels. Different vintages are mixed in equal proportions: 2018, 2016, 2015 and 2012.
Grape varieties: 2/3 fresh grape must, 1/3 old pomace.
Both are extremely rare wines and sought after by enthusiasts around the world.
All wines come from a temperature-controlled cellar.
Bottles of first origin, never traveled.
I do not ship outside of Europe.
