Art Deco Haller Uhrenfabrik GmbH Westminster chime mahogany mantel clock. Chimes every 15 minutes and strikes full hours, with Westminster chime and an option for silencing the chimes. Haller brand mark to the movement.
The clock is working and chiming as it should, but front glazed door is missing.
Some signs of wear and discolouration in places, measurements 31 x 22 x 15cm, a key included .
The Westminster Quarters (or Westminster Chimes, from its use at the Palace of Westminster) is a melody used by a set of striking clock bells to mark each quarter-hour. It is also known as the Cambridge Quarters or Cambridge Chimes from its place of origin, the church of St Mary the Great, Cambridge. The number of chime sets matches the number of quarter hours that have passed.
Haller Uhrenfabrik GmbH was founded in 1874 in Swchwennigen Germany by Thomas Haller. His son Thomas Ernst Haller joined the business in 1903. The Haller operation came under the limited ownership of the Junghans brothers in 1900. That union was disolved in 1903. In 1929 the firm was purchased by Kienzle. From 1903 till 1929 the firm operated as stockholder corporation
