In 1956, the art critic and publisher Tériade published a special issue of the legendary art magazine Revue Verve (no. 33-34), which was devoted exclusively to one of Marc Chagall's main themes: the Bible. For this special edition, Chagall composed 18 full-page lithographs in colour and 12 in black and white.
