Carstens Tönnieshof ceramic vintage volcanic lava floor vase from the 1970s.
Hand made in West Germany
Comes with a double plastic inner vase so you can safely place your flowers in this vintage vase.
Decor: Lava structure and divided into glazed red vertical strips with ribbeds in relief.
Designer: Presumably Trude Carstens
Base mark: logo 6090/50 West Germany.
Height: 50 cm
Width: app 28 cm
Diameter opening: 16cm
Weight: 3,75 Kilogram
Provenance: private collection
No cracks, chipping or dents.
In an excellent (as new) condition with the original golden sticker on the body of the vase.

Carstens Tönnieshof 1947-1977 West Germany
On 30 April 1878, Christian Hinrich Carstens bought the wholesale company Carstens & Stahl. In 1892, Christian Carstens acquired a ceramics company in Rheinsberg (Brandenburg) together with his brother Ernst Carstens.
Most of the shapes and decorative designs were created by Trude Carstens, the wife of founder Ernst Carstens.
Carstens only made a limited number of each design. In 1977, the company closed
Carstens made vases with reddish-brown clay. Carstens clearly signed her products with two baked-in houses with a T and a C underneath, followed by a model number and then a number indicating the height in cm. and the words ‘W.-GERMANY’.
On the bottom there is sometimes a three-digit model number followed by a single number, with 1 for the smallest model and 6 for the largest.
